there have long been discussions about artists who perform at michigan. folks have been boycotted and confronted and pamphleted. actions have mostly been informative and have helped to educate and inform folks about the policy and create their own position and decisions about how to support the artists or not. below are links to responses from two artists about michigan's womyn born womyn policy.

ember is performing for the first time and i've talked to both her and lyndell about the policy and the possibility of performing. i appreciated ember's thoughts on mwmf and found many of them in agreement with my own views.

the other is from alix olson who has performed at fest for several years. i've always heard that alix was pretty adamant about the policy, but the post seems much more conflicted.

what are yr responses? is this tactic of internal action, action within the fest, useful or just wishful thinking? as someone engaged with this type of action, i want to be more effective. to work in alliance with those who boycott and work to change the policy by other means. i guess i hope that multiple approaches will accomplish more than one.

Off-topic, but here's a letter to Amy Ray....

Hi, Ms. Ray. I dig your music, somewhat. Doesn't really speak with me.
Your anger isn't mine. Your's seems easy, to be honest.

Your's is blunted by affirmation. And community.

A tiger can fall in a pit onto stakes, or it can fall more than halfway
and impale itself gently, but count itself lucky. You're one of these
    halfway hanging tigers.

Is it lucky to be exploited in full, but drawn in half? Is your
privilege the power to halfway live? Is that your hope?

You sell others out to save your own white ass skin. You could save the
fall in total. You let others drop.

Do you know our death statistics?

    Do you know your own?

    Best wishes,

    Amy ("Catuskoti")
